About the show

Planes trains and automobiles - anything that has a motor and runs...

Terry Bish has been hosting Car Care Clinic Radio for over 30 years. In year two of the show he brought on John Metzler and the dynamic duo has been doing the show ever since. Car Care Clinic Radio is a live call in show that answers the callers questions about their vehicles and how to fix anything with a motor! From boats, lawn mowers, motorcycles, chainsaws, snow blowers and beyond…heck, they even answered a question about a helicopter once!

Car Care Clinic Radio is the number one show with the most listeners and the highest local ratings in the region. The listening audience covers most of New York state. From Syracuse, Binghamton, Rochester, and Utica to Watertown but also has listeners across the states, even Hawaii and calls from our neighbors to the north in Canada.

Terry Bish

Terry started playing around with cars when he was 14 years old. The first vehicle he bought was an old car for $50. The young man took it upon himself to strip it down and turned it into a dirt track car selling it for $300. This was only the beginning of what would become a lifelong obsession.

When he was young, Terry always worked on his own cars because he couldn't afford to take any of them to a repair shop. After years of hard work and learning his craft, at the age of 24 he was offered a job as a manager for AAMCO Transmission. For 13 years, Terry worked there and attended every seminar he could. He helped the techs tear down and rebuild the Transmissions soon becoming an expert in the area while also doing auto repairs on the side that weren't Transmission related for extra money.

After 13 years Terry decided to open his own shop. He called it Terry's Transmission so that his regular customers could find him… because he knew AAMCO wasn't going to tell them where he went while they all know that “Terry” was an expert at transmissions.

John Metzler

John’s interest in cars began when he was a youngster working side-by-side with his dad, helping keep their ’66 Chevy Nomad wagon on the road for their family of five children. From there John would work alongside his older brother Bill who was a Yamaha sponsored racer back in the mid-seventies getting his motorcycle prepped for the next race. When in high school, John began his education in the automotive industry participating in his alma maters auto-tech classes and then went on to attend BOCES.

Upon graduating, John then attended Cayuga Community College receiving a degree in Automotive Technology. While in college John interned for a local Syracuse Buick dealer, who upon graduation offered him a full-time position. While with the Buick dealer John attended many General Motors training classes. A few years later John was offered a position with a local Ford dealer, further honing his skills and then a lead tech/foreman position with a Chrysler/Jeep dealer in Syracuse. In the early ‘90’s, John’s cousin ran a business selling performance parts for BMW’s and needed a tech to assist customers in the installation of the parts they had purchased. John’s automotive focus shifted from all American cars to all things German, BMW, Porsche and Mercedes.

Next was a career move that would changes John’s life, he started working at Terry’s Transmission Service in North Syracuse. Shortly after starting work, Terry invited John to join him on his local radio talk show and the rest is radio history. John currently works as the Director of Service for a dealer, overseeing daily service operations at their four locations, along with technical training. This past year John started a new business venture as an owner/operator of his own trucking company. Though no longer involved on a daily basis in the automotive industry, John continues to attend training courses to keep up on the ever changing landscape of the automotive industry.
